Random?

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

This may sound random, but I just saw an add for open tip bras.  It made me think of the year my sister went to Paris.  She came back with chocolate for me, a framed photograph for my dad, and open tip lingerie for my step-mom.  Granted it was from Paris, but I was laughing so hard when she told me.  Perhaps, you need to know the women, but she is extremely nice and extremely uptight.  The funniest part of the whole thing was that she Loved it!  I couldn’t believe it.

Real Estate

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

I have a friend who works for a real estate company.  It’s what he talks about all the time now.  There is something to be said about it all though.  My landlord bought his first house when he was my age.  Now he owns ten houses.  He makes a killing renting out all the houses to university students.  It’s really quite impressive.  In fact, he only works three days a week at his other job.  He says he really doesn’t even need to do that, but he does because he owns the place and wants to keep an eye on it. I guess the time to get ahead is now instead of later.

Furniture

Tuesday, July 31st, 2007

Is it sad that I am really excited to get a computer desk chair?  I’ve had the desk for quite a while.  However, the new place I moved into was not furnished and thus, no chairs.  I never realized how much furniture people have until I had to buy it all myself.  I’m still looking at Century furniture for some last things.  I think the house is really starting to come together though.  It looks like people actually live there now instead of a creepy empty house.

Anniversaries!

Wednesday, July 25th, 2007

I can honestly say that I am in the longest lasting relationship I have ever been in to date.  We have almost been together two years now which is quite a step up from six months.  I’ve been thinking really hard about what I could do for some anniversary gifts, but I’m bone dry.  My birthday is in a couple days, his is a couple after that, and then our anniversary is coming up.  I need something great, but practical enough that I don’t blow a whole in my wallet.  I’m thinking there are more ideas online then in my head right now.  : )

Weight Loss

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

Losing weight is a big issue for a lot of people now. It’s hard enough without all of the fakes out on the market. For example, a lot of advertisers try to say that their product contains Hoodia in it. When in fact, it just has every day products in it. Hoodia is well know for suppressing apetites and encouraging weight loss. It’s important to do your homework and know what exactly you are investing your money in. There are great products out there that work, so don’t give up!

The Feared Dentist

Monday, July 23rd, 2007

I have a friend that just got her wisdom teeth out recently.  She was freaking out a lot before it finally happened.  Apparently, she has a fear of being unconscious for surgeries.  She said if something bad is going to happen to her, she wants to be alert to tell the doctors and such.  Instead of putting her to sleep, they gave her some drug to take her out of things, but not make her unconscious.  She told me that as they put the pulse oximeter on her finger, she started freaking out again.  Somehow, she managed not to run out of the room.  I had to chuckle at her for this.  I never knew her fear was so great.

Bathroom clutter

Thursday, July 19th, 2007

I’m looking online at bathroom vanities. I’m living in a house with three college people sharing one bathroom.  We need more storage and counter space before the clutter gets out of hand. Right now, there are only two of us and it’s a mess.  I’m terrified to know what it will be like when school starts and our last roomie gets here.  I like decorating and things of that nature, so I’m kind of excited about this.  I am definitely glad to have first dibs on where everything goes in the house.

My Cook Book

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

Since it’s summer and I’m not as busy with school, I’ve decided to teach myself how to cook.  It is time to move past the Ramen noodles and on to something better.  As of right now, I can make Italian chicken (chicken soaked in Italian dressing), spaghetti (canned sauce), twice baked potatoes, tacos, choc. chip cookies, and any kind of Hamburger Helper. Astounding, I know.  I’ve run into some tough situations with some of them the first time I made them.  I didn’t have a strainer or potato smasher.  The spaghetti was particularly fun.  I’ve learned my lesson on collecting all the   cookware I need in advance.

Basketball Jones

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

The movie Airbud was on t.v. a while back, and I decided to watch it.  That movie takes me back to some funny memories.  There was a time when I was actually pretty good at basketball.  I really wanted some Air Jordan shoes too.  My mom told me they were for boys, and I didn’t need them.  While I know that shoes can’t make someone’s talent grow directly, I think it can help.  I don’t think it’s necessarily the shoes, as much as, the confidence that people gain by wearing the shoes.  It’s something to think about.

Golf

Saturday, July 14th, 2007

I’m beginning to see why my dad loves golf so much.  True, it’s not my cup of tea for t.v. entertainment, but there are some benefits.  I was watching it with my dad the other day, and there are some girls much younger than me making way more money than my father.  It almost makes me wish I had taken it up when my dad was trying to get me interested.  When I saw that, I wanted to pick up some golf balls right then and start practicing.  : )
