Wow

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

I don’t know how reliable this information is, but my dad told me today about fiber optic cables.  He knows so much random stuff it amazes me.  I wasn’t quite sure what they were at first, but apparently they are cable that transmit thousands of times more information than normal ones.  They are one of the reasons why you have to have permission before digging in your own yard.  If you cut one, it costs one hundred thousand dollars and hour because of the amount of information that is not being transmitted.  I don’t know about you, but that impressed me.

Technological Schools

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

One thing I love about my college is that it seems to come through when people are in a pinch.  We have a media center where you can check out media items.  The co-ed fraternity that I’m in has weekly meetings.  However, this year we were a assigned a meeting room with out any computer/projectors equipped in it.  It’s nice that our school has utility carts that allow students to move around media equipment easily.  So, we still have the stuff we need for our meetings.  I like schools that have the technology that students need now a days.

Tv lift

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

I have a friend that is in college, a year ahead of me.  He bought a plasma tv.  I was quite impressed. Most college students are scraping by, living off of ramen noodles.  Not only did he by the tv, but he’s already looking into getting a plasma lift.  I wasn’t sure what that was at first.  It turns out that it allows you to push a button to raise your tv up or store it away.  It keeps your tv from getting dusty and impresses your guests!

Father Time

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

I still believe that a watch is always a good gift for a guy.  Women may have no sense of direction, but men have no sense of time.  They lose track of it quickly.  What better than an Audemars Piguet watch?  This way, they’ll have no excuse for being late to your mother’s holiday dinners.  Of course, they’ll also make sure to tell you when it’s time to stop talking and leave.  ; )

Jewerly gifts

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

It seems every year, I always find some sort of jewerly in my stocking.  I usually don’t see this as a small gift, because jewerly can be expensive.  Well, my step mom buys wholesale fashion jewelry for her friends and family.  She actually has most of her Christmas shopping done before November even comes around.  I think I need to take a page out of her book.

Condo living at it’s Best

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

My step mom and dad have lived in a condo for eighteen years.  They’ve gotten to the age where they hate taking care of the yard and the exterior of the property.  After moving into the condo, they loved the convience of having someone taking care of the lawns, the trash, the snow removal, and the exterior of the property for them. When they get up in the morning the snow has already been shoveled.  If they have a problem they just call the condo association.  And when they are away on vacation, there are always many neighbors eyes keeping an eye on their property.  If you’re interested in  condos for sale, I suggest you take a look.

Movies and Comfort

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

My family has always been into going to the movies.  One year my dad, sister, and myself saw thirteen new movies in six weeks.  The only thing I don’t like about going out to the movies is the crowd of people.  I always seem to sit by the noisiest kids and tallest people.  If I could, I would get a Bose home theater.  Imagine watching movies from the comfort of your own home.  It would be quite the entertainment piece!

Holiday Rush

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

My grandparents live eight hours away.  I want to visit them as much as possible, but sometimes it just isn’t possible.  However, when I do find the time, I want to be sure that I have travel insurance.  Especially around the holidays, there are a lot of people on the roads.  Things happen and we just can’t predict when we’ll run out of luck.  I want to be sure that I won’t find myself stranded and that I can make it to see my family for the holidays.

Van Halen

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

My boyfriend works at a bank.  You may or may not expect this but some bankers are into Seether, Aerosmith, and Van Halen.  One lady actually has the entire Van Halen tour memorized.  Most days that she has asked off for are for concerts like this.  It certainly surprised me when I was told.  I guess it just goes to show that you can’t judge a book by it’s cover.

Women’s gifts

Saturday, November 24th, 2007

Christmas is coming, and everyone is on the look out for great deals and the perfect gifts.  You can never go wrong with designer inspired jewelry for your wife, mother, or girlfriend.  Or, in my case, my boyfriends mother and sisters.  I want to be sure that I make a good impression on them.  I need to find something fashionable and practical.  After all, they are the closest women in his life.
