Christmas Presents

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

My biggest present from my dad was a luggage set.  It is pretty nice compared to the cheerleading bag that I’ve been using since I was in high school.  My dad loves to give practical gifts.  He also loves to receive practical gifts.  Apparently, the hot item for this year was cufflinks. I would never have guessed that in a million years.  How was I supposed to know that was what he really wanted?  It would have gone over really well I’m told.  I guess it’s better late than never.

Home at Last

Saturday, December 29th, 2007

I just got back from my dad’s house and must say that I had a wonderful Christmas there.  The last day we were there, my sister showed up as well.  We spent three hours playing Catch Phrase.  We were laughing so hard our stomachs hurt.  It was amazing.  However, we were so loud that I ended up with a migraine.  By the time we got home, I thought my head was going to explode.  I’ve been getting them more and more frequently.  I think I might need to see a doctor or something.

Clutter

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

I’m starting to learn that being an adult comes with  a lot of responsibilities tacked on every month.  I have to make car payments, phone payments, rent, insurance, and etc.  My poor little desk can’t hold all of the papers and such that I have now.  It’s a cluttered mess.   Bush furniture has this beautiful office armoires that I’ve got my eye on.  It has room for my computer, printer, books, and a drawer and cabinet.  It’s perfect for all of my storage needs.

Very Annoying

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

One of my very best friends is one of my least favorite people to call.  She lives in a part of town that for some unknown reason gets terrible reception.  Every time we talk, I have to call her at least three times because the call gets dropped.  I told her to look into getting a cell phone booster.  I’m told that they amplify signals to keep that from happening.  It’s better than missing a call because your phone didn’t have enough signal.

That Time of Year again..

Holidays bring families together!  They also usually involve lots of food.  I know that whenever my family gets together there is always a table full of food.  Usually, I just keep munching on things all day.  Then we all sit down for dinner and stuff ourselves past our limits.  It’s tough when you want to enjoy yourself, but don’t want to put on all the weight that comes with it.  It’s enough to make me look into diet pills.  I want my family to see how much I’ve grown up, not how much weight I’ve gained.

Family Pics!

Thursday, December 20th, 2007

I love spending time with family.  Over fall break, I went to see my brother and his family.  Thanksgiving, I went to my aunt’s.  And just last weekend, I babysat for my aunt’s daughters.  I’ve gotten a lot of really good pictures in such a short time.  What I need now is to make sure that I can store it all safely.  I’m looking into getting a computer memory upgrade.  I don’t want to be writing a paper or downloading more pics off of my camera to find out there is no where to put it all.  Better get a move on too, before Christmas rolls around!

Treat Yourself

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

All I want for Christmas is a LCD TV.    I’m starting a TV fund.  If you would like to donate to it go to…no, I’m just kidding. Seriously though, the picture on these things is amazing.   It would be an awesome Christmas present whether for someone special or just to treat yourself.  I’m definitely considering the latter.

I’ve been kind of sad lately.  Recently, my grandfather was diagnosed the a disease that isn’t treatable.  The whole family was supposed to get together for a huge Christmas hoopla…but my grandparents didn’t want to risk the chance of my grandfather getting sick(they believe cold weather=sickness).  Luckily, they came down for Thanksgiving.  However, that too, was a bitter-sweet trip.  My grandfather’s sister is sick as well.  I think she started mesothelioma treatments.  I’m not a hundred percent sure, but I know it has something to do with being exposed to asbestos.  Anyway, my family needs to stay strong through this.  I have faith in us.

The Cost of Technology

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

I love technology.  I’ll be the first to admit that I like living in this day and age compared to previous ones.  However, technology has its price.  If you want the best, you have to pay for it…or, do you?  One of the fastest growing businesses is for used products such as used cisco.  You get the same secure on-line shopping with refurbished, used, and pre-owned hardware as with any other.  If it works the same, but costs less…doesn’t seem like there’s much of a decision to be made.

Got Paella?

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

I’ve decided that someday I would like to be able to not worry about money.  I don’t need to be rich, but I would like to be well-off.  I just recently babysat for my aunt and fell in love with her house.  First of all, I have to mention that she has the cutest kids.  Secondly, it was the easiest job I’ve had as a babysitter.  My aunt has this huge paella pans.  The food seemed to warm up faster than usual and nothing stuck to it.  It hardly took any time to get the kids fed and cleaned up.  Quick and painless.
