Environmental Reports

Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Need a phase 1 environmental report for your property transaction? You should look for one that is high-quality color report made by qualified personnel dedicated to getting it back on schedule.  It’s important to know what environmental issues go along with property.  A Phase I ESA includes a search of historic records to evaluate the potential presence of concerns on or near the property in question.  That sounds like they dig deep to get the most reliable information to me.

Saving the World, one appliance at a time!

Monday, January 21st, 2008

I have this friend that started off borderline vegetarian and has now joined the Environmental Awareness Counsel (EAC).  She has been trying to get me to shop at this site: GreenandMore.com.  They offer hundreds of eco friendly products.  They also practice what they preach.  The company gives to charities such as Oceana and Healthy Child Healthy World.  There is also a blog written by community and staff called “GreenMusings.”  The company even practices these “green” beliefs on-site (i.e. no plastic ware, recycled office supplies, etc).  I think it’s important that not only do they sell energy saving appliances, solar powered products, eco furniture, and so on, but they have a learning center with the latest information from sources like EPA and the US Dept. of Energy. I think Megan finally found something worth looking into.  This company has great products, had done the research, and does as it says we should do.  It’s hard to find companies nowadays that genuinely mean well.  The eco products  are just as good, if not better, than other products with the added bonus of helping to clean up our environment.  If you ask me, that is pretty awesome.  I don’t think I have the will power to become a vegetarian, but this is something that I think I can achieve.

VB

This last semester, I played intramural volleyball.  My team was not the best, but we had a lot of fun.  I did not realize how expensive sporting goods are.  We went to Walmart to get a volleyball so we could practice, but I was not about to dish out that much for a month of volleyball.  We should have used Sports Authority coupons.  Then my team of poor little college students might have had a chance to at least practice.

GRRR Popups!

Monday, January 21st, 2008

I seriously need a better popup blocker.  I’m sick of visiting a site once and then getting popups from it a year later.  The ones where you have to search for the exit button drive me crazy.  They think they are being clever by doing that, but they’re not.  The longer it takes me to click it away, the angrier I get, and the less I want what ever product it is that’s being advertised.

Big Year

Monday, January 21st, 2008

My roommate is graduating and getting married this year.  She has a pretty outgoing personality too.  So, I thought I would get her some leather lingerie for the bachelorette party.  I’m not sure where to start looking for something like that though.  I think it would be better to shop online for something like that.  I mean, I don’t want anyone getting the wrong idea about me.

Camping

Monday, January 21st, 2008

My grandparents just moved back up north recently.  My mom was really excited about it until they decided eight hours away from everyone was a good idea.  It’s kind of nice that they are right by camping grounds since we used to go on family camping trips every year.  However, they have to realize that it makes it hard for people to visit them as often as they like.  I, personally, am not a fan of camping in the winter.  I’m all for staying in a canvas tent  with the whole family together again.  But, eight hours is a long trip for a weekend trip.

New Year, New Jobs

Monday, January 21st, 2008

One of my friends just graduated college last semester.  She’s been looking for a job for some time now.  Just when she was starting to get frustrated, she landed this great office job.  She has her own desk and filing cabinets.  I can’t believe how excited she is! I got a picture of her standing at her desk with her personalized pens.  It’s pretty cute. ; P

Materialism vs. being a Mother

Monday, January 21st, 2008

I was watching Oprah the other day (not by choice, I was at the gym and it was on), and some people are just dumb.  There was a couple that bought a house before they sold their own house.  Then they both went out and bought new cars.  Nevermind the fact that not one of their six children had health insurance or that they did not have life insurance.  What would happen to those kids if they died?  They would be left with nothing except debt.  It’s not hard to go out and get term life insurance quotes.  That couple needs a reality check for where their priorities lie.

Oh, My Aching Knees

Monday, January 21st, 2008

It’s sad that I am only twenty and having problems with my joints.  My knees, in particular, hurt daily.  It really sucks when I have classes on the third floor.  By the time I get to the top, my knees are snap, crackling, and popping.  I can already tell that when I get old, I’m going to need a  stair lift. There is no way that when I’m old, I’ll be trucking it up and down lots of stairs.  No sir.  Not for me.

The Pacifyer

Tuesday, January 8th, 2008

My step-mom is having the baby blues again.  A while back, we were walking by baby furniture in Target.  This was the first time she started on the topic.  As soon as she saw the baby cribs, she was gone.   First, she looked at her daughter (who is sixteen), then my sister(who is 24 but didn’t even have a boyfriend), and then me.  She just stared for a second and then said she wanted a grandchild.  I paused for a second, and replied that first I had to graduate college, then get married, and then I’d consider it.  Ever since then, she keeps pushing for it.  Luckily, my sister has a boyfriend now so I’m not the only one that has to endure it.
