Meal Plans…grr!

Friday, August 29th, 2008

Since I am living on campus, I was forced to get a meal plan that I didn’t want, university’s rules.  I wouldn’t have minded except I can’t use it!  They just recently switched companies that serves the campus and it sucks.  There is only one place on campus that I can use my meal plan and it’s the cafeteria.  I don’t have time for a sit down meal. What I need is somewhere that I can grab a sandwich and go.  Instead, I can’t use my meal plan and I’m stuck grabbing junk food in between classes.  This semester I think I am going to need the best weight loss pills I can find!

College vs. Real Life

Friday, August 29th, 2008

There are some distinct differences between working a nine to five job and going to college.  Obviously, one you have to go to work everyday nine to five and the other you have a couple classes a day, maybe some meetings, but lots of breaks in between everything.  I think the thing I miss the most though is that I have to walk all the way across campus like every hour.  I don’t mind the exercise, really.  I do, however, hate breaking into a sweat every hour because it’s so hot out.  And then, I can’t even wash my face until I’m done for the day and back in my room.  I’m breaking out a lot and need some good acne cream to clear this up.  So, I will say one of the benefits of going out and getting a real job is Air Conditioning!!

Investments

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Now that I am nearing graduation I am beginning to think more about my long term goals. One of these goals is investing and saving for my future. I don’t know a great deal about investing but my fiancee has a degree in finance and has been investing on his own for a couple of years now with some success. I told him that I would prefer to invest in safe stocks that aren’t going to lose me a ton of money. He told me about a company that he had been looking into for a while. They buy and sell commercial real estate and issue commercial real estate loans. He says that stocks of this type have been hurt due to all of the mortgage stuff going on right now but they are paying a very large dividend that should remove a lot of the risk of investing in it. I think that I will start by investing a little and then if that goes well I might put some more money in later. Well, wish me luck.

Time Off

So I finally finished my internship this summer and decided to reward myself by indulging in one of my favorite hobbies, anime. My boyfriend and I like to watch anime ranging anywhere from kids stuff like Naruto to more graphic series like Claymore. The only problem is that neither of us speak japanese. While some people enjoy watching dubbed anime we much prefer to watch it with subtitles because the voices sound a lot better when they are done by the original voice actors. For that reason we often find ourselves preferring to read what is going on versus actually listening and I sometimes find myself watching normal TV with closed captioning . It just seems natural now for me to watch all of my favorite shows that way, it especially helps when there is a lot of dialog or the characters are talking very softly.

Texas!

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

Sadly, my family went without me to Texas for vacation this year.  I had to work here for my internship and didn’t think a week off in the middle would be appropriate.  They got a lot of really cool pictures.  My sister wants to gets some custom picture frames to put them in and give them out for Christmas. I thought it was a neat idea!

Love for the Game

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

I don’t really understand golf.  I mean, I think it’s nice to fall asleep to, but not really entertaining other than that.  My dad, however, LOVES golf.  He has his Titleist golf balls, clubs, and bag.  He would play any day of the week if you let him.  I guess, I don’t get it, but I respect his love for the game. So, I’m going to keep buying him golf things every birthday and Christmas because I know he’ll love it!

Think about it…

I hear a lot of talk about diet pills.  I’ve heard the good, the bad, and the ugly.  However, I’m a firm believer that some diet pills DO work.  And, because of that, I also believe they are not for everyone.  If you are 5′6″ and 115lbs. you probably don’t need them.  On the other hand, there are a lot of people that do.  And, they should definitely try diet pills because they can help in more way than one. : )

Sleepy Girl

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

I think I’m getting into a bad routine.  Every day I go to work and then come home and take a nap.  I sleep until 5 or 6pm and then eat dinner.  I don’t understand why I’m so tired all the time.  I mean, I get at least 8 hours of sleep every night. So, why do I need a nap every day after work?  I’m really considering energy pills to keep me going.  There really isn’t much else I can do. I eat right, get sleep, and even exercise.  I think I just need that extra boost.
