I feel old.

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

I went back to my high school the other day to visit one of my friends that is student teaching there.  It was really weird to go back after so long.  I will say that if there is one thing that I recommend for high schoolers, it’s acne treatment.  I remember some of my own friends walking down the halls lacking confidence because of their acne.  I don’t really notice that in college anymore.  It’s a completely different atmosphere.

Fortunate vs. Unfortunate

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Unfortunately, I have to have four jobs on campus to pay for school.  However, I am fortunate to have the ones I do. I mean, I like all of them…so that’s good.  It’s also when I see what others have to deal with that I know I’m lucky.  One of the circulation associates at the library is about five foot tall. She has a desk that is made for someone about 5′8″.  Needless to say, she has tendonitis from trying to type at this desk all day.  I think she needs to ask for better office furniture

Blood Pressure

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Truth be told, my dad is a pretty Big guy. Unfortunately, he also likes to eat sweets (which I’ve also inherited).  Everyone thought that he would definitely get diabetes with his size and sugar habits.  However, the biggest worry he has right now is his blood pressure.  He needs to get a blood pressure monitor.  I have to admit, I’ll feel a little better when he does.

Practice what you Preach

You know, people talk about life insurance a lot.  I’ve been thinking, I am getting ready to graduate college and don’t even know how to go about getting term life insurance quotes.  Isn’t that kind of silly? I tell people it’s important. I even was an intern for an insurance company. Apparently, it’s not that hard to get one.  I should probably look into it. : P

Confessions

So, I have this ex that I dated for approximately six months. We’ve been apart for over three years now.  I ended it because he was getting really hard to deal with at the end of our relationship.  Well, he’s tried contacting me again recently.  Apparently, he was doing drugs right before we broke up.  It wasn’t until he went to a drug treatment center that he finally quit and gained the courage to tell me the truth. This  drug treatment center really changed his life. Wow.  That’s all I’ve got.

Awesome Phones

So, I really want to go to India.  I’ve wanted to go for a long time.  However, something has always gotten in the way (ie money, timing, etc.).  Recently, I got and engaged.  I’m wondering if I could actually leave my fiance to go to a different country where I won’t know anyone for a month?!?  Well, I just found out about the coolest thing.  There are these phones that are called unlocked phones.  They can be used with other GSM providers in the U.S. AND around the world.  Pretty cool, huh?

Job Market

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

I’m told that when I graduate, I’ll be going into the worst job market in a long time.  Greeeaaat (sarcasm).  What’s sad, is I’m already seeing this.  I had quite a few friends that graduated this last May and are still looking for jobs.  One friend in Texas just recently found a job. She said that she probably wouldn’t have a job right now if it wasn’t for Austin resumes.  She found a place to post her resume and find local jobs.

Gift for Mom

Sunday, September 14th, 2008

I just realized today that my mom’s wind chimes are gone.  I know that I’m unobservant, but when did that happen?  She loved them.  They are especially fun in the fall when it is all windy.  Well, at least I know what I can get her for her next birthday or holiday.  It is definitely thoughtful and not expensive. Perfect!

Clear Skies Ahead

You know I am really impressed with how fast some acne treatments work.  It wasn’t that long ago that I was complaining about breaking out.  Now I can really see the difference.  My face looks better, I feel better, and I have more confidence.  It’s amazing how much a little confidence and change the way other people see you too!
